Acetic Acid (C2H4O2)

← Back to Chemicals

Acetic acid (CH₃COOH) is a weak, colorless organic acid that naturally occurs in vinegar. It is used in the food industry to regulate acidity and preserve food, in the production of chemicals, solvents, and plastics, and also in industrial processes such as the synthesis of organic compounds. Concentrated acetic acid is corrosive and safety precautions must be observed when handling it.
